In January-February PDO participated Food nutrition security analysis held in growe, pdo shared the conditions of foo security in bari regions (QARDHO, BEYLA,ISKUSHUBAN) According to the latest FSNAU report, Somalia faces an increased threat of acute food insecurity, malnutrition, The risk is expected to affect 2m people (IPC Phase 3), with 42,00 people expected to be affected in Somalia’s bari puntland sate.(feb-june Projections)
The situation in the Bari region is particularly concerning, with those at-risk numbering , followed by the worsening conditions in mudug with 72,430 affected people (analysed projections phas 4) and galgadud with a total affected of 50,000 people, who are all likely in Catastrophe (IPC Phase 4).
With the situation projected to worsen, the humanitarian ramifications if not addressed with a sustained reaction might be disastrous.The food security situation in Somalia remains precarious: the below-average rainfall between October and December 2024 led to a substantial reduction in crop production in agro pastoral and riverine livelihoods, and faster pasture and water depletion in pastoral areas.
