The Puntland Development Organization (PDO) was founded by group of facilitators, intellectuals, businessmen and professionals living in Puntland regions in May 2006. This organization is non-political, non-government, non-profit making organization but relief, recovery, training, baseline surveys and projects’ development organization.

The PDO NGO was registered and recognized organization in Puntland State of Somalia. The establishment of this organization was based upon the needs of voluntarism on community development services.

The organized group realized that the community had projects failed due to the lack of participation in assessing, problem identifications, finding probable solutions, designing, planning, implementing, monitoring activities, and all projects’ implementation cycle because the communities were raised with projects from outsiders/donors without addressing their priorities even their interests at grassroots’ levels. Having created very effective tools, the facilitators together with other experienced staffs used these tools and knowledge to become important trainers and implementing projects for community priorities and needs.

However, they realized this intervention can be best suited to the increasing demands of community based developments, the PDO organization decided to address the attitude changes, most significant changes as changing agent (bottom up to top stages) through important trainings and help to bring about positive and significant changes in the lives of the constituents and entire community.

The PDO aims and targets at beneficiaries who will be under the vast areas with pressing needs particular in Bari and Karkar regions and other regions at largely.
